About
Experience "Not T/here," an experimental documentary written and directed by Cedric Arnold. This 31-minute film, presented in color with 7.1 surround sound, delves into themes of memory, self-narrative, and our evolving relationship with reality.
The film weaves together documentary footage, archival material, and ongoing research to trace a path from the COVID-19 pandemic to a speculative near future in 2035. A narrator attempts to reconstruct an archive left by a friend, an archivist who vanished while documenting a world undergoing rapid technological and environmental shifts. As fragments of the archive intertwine with personal memories and historical traces, the film explores the interplay between the physical past and the systems designed to replace it.
"Not T/here" prompts reflection on what we choose to preserve, what fades away, and how easily inherited stories can be rewritten. It questions the inevitability of a future shaped by endlessly re-written, hyper-personalized approximations of our pasts. A Q&A session will follow the screening.
